My name is Venu, as you would have made from the domain name. I am 27 years old and I currently live in Bangalore, India.

Personal Profile

I arrived into the world on Nov 7 1979 (Yes I am a Scorpio, so beware :)) My parents are from a small town called Udupi. There was another arrival in our family some time in 1982 (my younger brother) and we did have a fun time fighting n kicking each other.

My father happened to work for a nationalized bank and he was transferred from one place to another every 2-3 years. So I happened to move from Goa to Puttur to Mysore after which my father decided that it was in our good interest that we stay in one place and he did the traveling alone !

I did my Bachelors degree in the field of Computer Science and also managed to finish my Masters in Software systems at BITS Pilani

Professional Profile

During my last semester of my Engineering(2000), I was offered jobs by two companies Wipro and Huawei. The dot com bubble burst in 2000 made the former company Wipro defer the offer for 1 year and hence I decided to join Huawei, the Chinese telecom company.

I worked in Huawei for 4 years(2001-2005) and it included frequent travels to Shenzhen, China. The work experience was amazing and I cannot say the same about the work load.

I am currently working in Sonus Networks, a Telecom Company which is a leading provider of wireless and wireline voice over IP (VoIP) and multimedia infrastructure solutions for carriers, PTTs, ISPs, cable companies and next-generation service providers.

Blogging Profile

I was introduced to the world of computers at the age of 17 (yeah pretty late) and I totally got attached to it. I used the PC basically for programming and to play games. Later on I became a game freak and was regularly upgrading my PC so that it could run the latest games.

I had subscribed to Chip and Digit and I used to try almost all the software included in the CD’s. Trying out new tools was fun for me.

I started my first blog on blogspot with the intent of writing reviews of the tools that I tried and liked. Later on I shifted to wordpress; few weeks later I realized that I had very little control on the blog hosted on wordpress.com and hence decided to have my own name on the web.

venukb.com was officially registered on April 24 2006 and it has been adventurous journey since then. The site was initially hosted on Godaddy and this year I moved it to Dreamhost.

On my weblog you would find posts ranging from PC tools,Google, Eclipse and Wordpress.

Most of the software I use are freeware/open source. I have paid for 2 applications - Flickr and Mint and I believe they are worth it.
