No I didn’t create these effects using some Adobe or Corel product.. The latest beta of Word 2007 comes with a nice Picture Style Toolbar from which you can choose a host of formatting styles for the images.
Microsoft Office 2007 also introduces a feature called “Live Preview“, which temporarily applies formatting on the focused text or object, when any formatting button is “mouse-over”. The temporary formatting is removed when the mouse pointer is moved from the button. This allows users to have a preview of how the option would affect the appearance of the object, without actually applying it.
The formatting can be further customized using “Picture Effects”.

Looks good! Have you downloaded Office 2007 beta? Is it stable?
Yes, the Beta is quite stable. As of now I am using only Word and Outlook.
