Flickr the best online photo management and sharing application also has the best photo uploader tool.
The uploader installation binary is small 648KB) and also in “run mode” the
application takes the least amount of memory and CPU cycles.
You can create sets and assign tags while uploading the photos.
However one of the problems with this tool is that you can run only one instance at a time.
I am still on a 256Kbps broadband connection and sometimes it takes ages to upload the photos. Also I try to avoid the “Organize” feature to tag/organize photos. I tend to organize photos while uploading itself !
There was a hack to run multiple instances of Yahoo and Google Talk IM !
